End Of Sem? ... Not Yet -.-

So it's the end of sem show today, but it's not the end of sem yet. I still have 4 papers to go and totally do not feel like touching any notes or studying anything. I feel really exhausted. For the past one month I worked like a factory, doing all the designing, editing, printing, cutting, sewing, sticking, binding... ... sometimes I wonder why do we have to do all these because eventually when you are out in the industry as a designer, a lot of processes mentioned above you can simply outsource to some pro machines.. but again maybe you need to hands on yourself so you will know what to expect.. nevertheless I think it's the handmade part that I love the most.

Our project requires us to do a collaboration between a company and a fine artist and design a new range of products/services from the collaboration. My artist is Emily Barletta, I really love her series of works on Thread on Paper. The natural form and the organic composition really make each piece unique and full of energy. My main visual is inspired by one of her works which to me suggests 'links' and this extended to form the whole concept of a modern Chinese wedding as red thread is a symbol of love/marriage in the Chinese traditions.

Brand concept and meaning of logo.

Final products.

100% handmade. Many people told me the die cut part can just use the die cut machine or laser cut machine in school.. yea I know.. but I was just too lazy to travel to school just for that. lol.

Overall it's a very valuable experience. Learned a lot about the process of design, from the conceiving of ideas/concepts to application to the final execution, it's quite exciting to see one thing lead to another and how ideas transform into something tangible. looking forward to do more works like this.
