New Favourite Snack!

Exams coming! Snacking while studying seems like a must.. or at least to me, coz it makes me stay awake. Also, don't you feel hungry easily after studying? I always think so.. I remember from my Sec 3 biology textbook that says when you are thinking your brain uses up a lot of glucose and that is why you feel hungry after studying, esp maths because you need a lot of brain power for tt!

So this is our newly discovered snack combination. Meiji milk with Goldfish biscuit from Grahams (cupcake flavor!) *Note: You should pick a milk that has no taste other than the milk taste, coz we tried sweetened milk like Meiji coffee milk, gosh, it's just too sweet for everything. The biscuit itself is already quite sweet, so a non-sweenten milk can neutralise everything :)

If you enlarge the picture you can see rainbow bits in the milk which makes you happy as well. 

I don't know how the goldfish biscuit is being made, it absorbs milk very quickly and turn soft very fast, so every mouth you eat is a perfect combination of milk and biscuit.. so yummy ^^

Type Design

Never knew that type design can be so tedious. I mean I understand it is definitely not an easy task to come up with a set of nicely designed letters, but before I do it myself I really underestimated the amount of work A LOT! Type design is like maths, a lot of calculations and all and you need to work like an engineer, not artist. Now I have 100% of respect to all the type designers out there who put in their heart and soul in coming up with a set of nicely designed typeface.

Here's what I have been working on for weeks, it's my Typography III assignment. A font revival.

This type of rounded font is definitely not something new in the market and in fact when I proposed to my prof she actually gave me this website which shows 25 Fabulous Rounded and Circle Fonts for Artist and indeed, they are all very similar to the font I have been developing. However, I am confident to say that mine is different (lol.. every designer/artist will try to defend his/her work and say it's different. Just like paintings of Van Doesburg and Mondrian, they look the same to me but they will be offended if you say it's the same. haha). So mine is different in the sense that not only did I draw every letter based on circle, I also tried to bring out the sequence of writing a stroke in the type face, and the sequence is based on how children use a marker to write their letters. Afterall this set of font will be used in publicity materials which target at kids, so I thought it would be good to mimic their style in some way.

So here is some of my first round of research, if you realized in this research it is all uppercase letters because I wanted to design a set of uppercase letters. However I changed my mind halfway after consulting my prof.

Right now I'm still missing the letter 'z' in this set and I'm not really happy with 's' because it is not very readable and feels a bit uncomfortable. I have 2 different 'w' and 3 different 'y' which I still can't decide which to put in this set. I think I shall try to put them in words so to see the relationship of it with other letters, and also to consult my prof tomorrow and see how it goes.

We all know that the handmade scene in Singapore is still not VERY developed YET.. because the resources are really very limited.. but this is a good start. Hall Cat! Meow~

Alright, I am taking a break from my mugging. I have 2 more marketing lectures to go, it has been a rather productive day besides the fact that I slept for 8 hours from 10am to 6pm :/

This is the stray cat which hangs around my hall. Too pretty to be a stray, yes I agree. I would love to keep this kitty but I think this cat loves freedom. No matter how well u treat it, how much food and care you give.. eventually it will still leave you and roam around the place. Afterall you are not the only person who treat it nicely, the uni students around here are all quite kind.

I think I will miss this cat a lot after I move out of hall next year. Well.. meanwhile I still get the chance to see you.. I shall snap more photos of u xD

Renegade Craft Fair

Oh My God! Why didn't they have that in june/july when I was in LA and San Francisco!!! It will really be a dream come true if I get to go Renegade Craft Fair.. I think I would probably just stand there and cry and don't know where to start.. lol.

Curious Doodle

I have been a fan of this website ever since the first time I visit there, Curious Doodle. It is a great place for crafting inspirations.

Sewing on paper is not something new, I have done that for my A level coursework 4 years ago, I even did sewing on acrylic, sewing on cement blocks, lol.. but.. at curious doodle, she manage to pack everything nicely and make them into kits so that anyone who purchase it can experience the fun of sewing! Plus, I believe it's her background in design, all her graphics for sewing are very nice! I'm sure you will get a great deal of satisfaction upon completion of any of her projects :)

Once I start pinning I can't stop! There are just too many nice and inspiring things keep appearing in front of my eyes, from graphic design to typography, to photography, home furnishing, fashion, food and most importantly DIY and craft.. all you want to see, want to know, u name it! OMG! I can't wait for the holidays to come and hopefully by then I will have all the time in the world to try out the things I have pinned under 'DIY and Crafts' so far. Can't wait!
